Welcome
FruitSens
develops and sells advanced tools for assessment of fruit ripeness. The
concept is simple: by analyzing skin and pulp colour and appearance,
one can render these characteristics objective and accurate. In fact,
in many fruit and vegetables visual attributes may be relied upon as
predictors for fruit ripeness, storability, texture and even flavour
and aroma.
Our products are primarily
designed to serve warehouses and market panelists. However, the diverse
applications they offer may make them appealing also to large growers
and to fruit scientists.
Our products are PC based,
combining hardware and software. An effort has been made to keep them
user-friendly and affordable.

The concept
Assessing
fruit
ripeness is a difficult task for any fruit grower or packer. The problem is
not a lack of indices; on the contrary, there are so many ways to
estimate the fruit's internal quality and storability you wouldn't
know which ones to choose. Measuring flesh firmness has become the most
common method for doing it. Firmness is by no means a better indicator
to fruit ripeness than others. However, its advantage is its objectivity:
Whoever runs the firmness tests will end up with more orless the
same results. Try asking different people to estimate fruit flavour,
aroma or even colour, and you will face a wide range of opinions.
This
is where FruitSens's novel
instrument comes in handy: it makes the
assessment of visual fruit attributes a precise, objective process. The
LC1 is a simple but powerful solution for
analyzing fruit characteristics. The 'Fruit Colour Analyzer' and
'Amylan Magic' applications could be
just the tip of the iceberg, as many other solutions for
assessing fruit attributes are made feasible with our machine-vision
concept.
